The Beginning of 2018

Rise ‘n’ Shine!

So in my previous post I told you that I was moving to Kuwait for a while. And after a long journey I finally arrived last night. I was up at 6am and wasn’t in Kuwait until 11pm, thanks to the flight delays!

Many of you are probably wondering why I’m moving here and why I’m not at Uni anymore…I’m technically still at Uni, I’ve just taken a year out of studying to do a work placement which is part of my course. I’m going to be working for a franchise operator called Alshaya and will be doing Merchandise Allocating in the H&M division.

The build up to my big move was daunting as I didn’t know what to expect. People would tell me different things like, men can’t walk closer than 10 steps behind women, or I can’t show any skin, I have to wear a hijab etc. but it’s not like that at all. So far, coming from the airport to my hotel, I’ve noticed that Kuwaitis have a very friendly nature and I don’t need to cover everything. It’s a pretty westernised country, and you’re not expected to follow the culture, you just have to respect it.

I’m not going to lie, I am petrified to live on my own for the first time, especially over 3000 miles away, but I know that this is going to make me a better person and I’ll come back a much more independent, mature woman.

Until next time,

Tee X
