“Home Is Where The Wine Is”
As most of you have probably seen in my previous post Chapter 21, I went back home for a couple of weeks to celebrate my birthday. The time off work was definitely needed and so was a large glass of wine! Obviously it was great to see my family and friends again too… I was a bit gutted to leave again really, but I’ve only got 4 more months until I’m home for good!
To think I was actually going home to have a peaceful break was obviously never going to happen. I had a birthday party to attend the day after I landed, had to prepare for my own party which was the day after that, and it’s much harder to do than you think by the way, especially when I also had to get my hair, nails, eyelashes and eyebrows done before! I went out for a lovely brunch on my actual birthday which was a few days later, and tried to spend some time with family who drove down from Cumbria, but I was so busy that I only really saw them for a couple of days. We did go to Camden though, which was nice!
In the second week, I had another birthday party, spent a lot of time in pubs, obviously had a night out which I’ve missed since being in Kuwait, and met up with whoever was free during the week for lunch and dinner dates. I then ended the last week with a day trip to Brighton with some of my closest friends, we chilled on the beach, ate loads of food and finished the day off with a bag of warm sugary doughnuts on the Pier, which is sort of a ‘thing’ we do every time we go to Brighton.
It was so amazing to go back home, and even though I’m excited to move back for good at the end of the year, I know I’ll also really miss Kuwait, the friends I’ve made here, and of course the weather. But England is home and that’s where my heart will always be.
Until next time,
