‘The City of Gold’
Eid al Fitr ’18
Yes I know what you’re thinking, “Why are you publishing something that happened during the first Eid?” Well I’m clearly too distracted to post things on time… This has actually been saved in my drafts for a while and I completely forgot about it until we reached second Eid, which I will also have a post about (eventually).
So me and my brother went to Dubai during the Eid holiday which was in June, and we only had three days to cram in as much as possible. I’m pretty pleased with how much we actually managed to do though, it was definitely more than I expected as I thought we’d both struggle to wake up in the mornings. But we were up everyday, bright and early!
We started the day with breakfast in the hotel (am I the only one who hates hotel breakfast buffets btw?). We then went straight to Atlantis Aquaventure Water Park, and I managed to tick another thing off my bucket list, swimming with dolphins!! We spent the whole day at Atlantis, managed to see their aquarium, did some shopping and then chilled on one of the terrace bars for a quick cocktail, before heading back to the hotel to get ready for dinner by the musical fountains.
Beach day! We went to Riva Beach Club for a day of relaxation. The music was nice, the cocktails were delicious and the weather was perfect. After spending most of the day there, we got a little bored so decided to get our adrenaline going on some jet ski’s, and then headed back to Atlantis for Aquaventure After Dark, which was basically a rave in the water park!
This day couldn’t have come any quicker if it tried! The last day before heading back to boring work life again… We went up the Burj Khalifa of course, we couldn’t visit Dubai and not see the tallest building in the world! We also had entrance to the Dubai Mall Aquarium, which was surprisingly amazing. I definitely had the assumption that it would be just a standard Aquarium like the ones we’ve all probably visited as a kid, but it was actually just as breathtaking as the views from the Burj Khalifa. There were Fish, Sharks, Sting Rays, Birds, Scorpions, Crocodiles, literally anything you can think of!
I kind of lost track of time and didn’t realise that my flight back to Kuwait was in a few hours so I rushed back to the hotel and went on my way. It was sad to part ways with my brother again, but I was going back to the UK a month later so the goodbyes were not as bad as the first time.
Until next time,
